On May 28th local time, CCTV reporters learned that the U.S. Federal Court blocked the tariff policy announced by U.S. President Trump on April 2nd, \Liberation Day,\ from taking effect, and ruled that Trump overstepped his authority by imposing comprehensive tariffs on countries that export more to the United States than they import.
The International Trade Court located in Manhattan, New York stated that the U.S. Constitution grants the U.S. Congress exclusive authority to regulate trade with other nations, and the emergency powers claimed by the President to protect the U.S. economy do not override these powers.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of five small American businesses affected by the tariffs by the non-profit, non-partisan litigation organization Freedom and Justice Center, marking the first major legal challenge to Trump's tariff policy.
