On December 9, the inauguration ceremony of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) Support Body (RSU) was held at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia. ASEAN Secretary-General Gao Jinhong, Indonesian Trade Minister Budi Santoso, and representatives from other ASEAN member states, Australia, China, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand attended the ceremony.

China is the non-ASEAN rotating chair of RCEP in 2024, and together with Indonesia, the ASEAN chair, is actively leading the 15 parties to establish RSU as scheduled. This inauguration ceremony marks the full operation of RSU and is an important milestone in the construction of the RCEP mechanism. It is conducive to providing sufficient secretarial and technical support for the implementation of RCEP and the operation of relevant institutions, and further promoting the comprehensive and high-quality implementation of RCEP.
