Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the new cabinet list on the 13th, appointing a new Foreign Minister and creating a new position of Minister of Canada-U.S. Trade.

Besides the Prime Minister, the new cabinet is composed of 28 ministers. Anita Anand, who held an important position in the former Prime Minister Trudeau's government, was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Dominic LeBlanc, the former Minister of International Trade, was appointed as the Secretary of the Privy Council for Canada and Minister responsible for Canada-United States trade, intergovernmental affairs, and Canadian economic integration. The Minister of Finance, Chrystia Freeland, remains in her position.

Canadian public opinion generally believes that the new cabinet will continue to focus on combating U.S. tariffs and developing the domestic economy.

Khaney was elected as the new leader of the Canadian Liberal Party with an overwhelming majority on March 9th, and succeeded Trudeau as the 24th Prime Minister of Canada on March 14th, forming his first cabinet. In the Canadian federal House of Commons election held on April 28th, the Liberal Party won, and Khaney remained as Prime Minister. However, since the Liberal Party did not win a majority of seats, it failed to achieve the status of a majority government and could only form a minority government. The new session of the federal House of Commons will open on May 26th.
