Cargill, with a history of nearly 160 years, is a "full-time student" at the China International Import Expo (hereinafter referred to as the "CIIE"). At the 7th CIIE, Cargill demonstrated its innovative achievements in the fields of agriculture, food, finance and industry, with more than 120 exhibits. At the same time, Cargill signed a series of cooperation agreements during the CIIE, covering many fields such as grain, food, feed raw materials, and iron ore.
Zheng Hongfei, Cargill's global senior vice president and president of the Asia Pacific region of Animal Nutrition and Health, said in an interview with The Paper News (www.thepaper.cn) that in addition to product and solution displays,"Cargill will further expand at this year's CIIE. The 'circle of friends' will also sign a series of cooperation agreements covering many fields such as grain, food, feed raw materials, iron ore, etc., focusing on the transformation and upgrading of China industries."
It also mentioned that in the field of animal husbandry, Cargill will jointly promote the localization of technological innovation in the fields of animal nutrition and health with partners; strengthen cooperation with leading domestic companies in ruminants and other fields, and carry out technology research and development, product innovation, technical exchanges, etc.
It is noteworthy that in the first half of this year, Cargill's animal nutrition and health business announced in China that it officially released its micronutrient and health technology business unit. This business unit will bring together Cargill's global brand power of animal micronutrients and additives, aiming to provide science-driven micronutrients products, services and digital solutions.
Zheng Hongfei said that Cargill's animal nutrition and health has experienced more than 50 years of development in China, and has participated in and witnessed the transformation and upgrading of China's animal husbandry industry from extensive to refined, from focusing on production to equal emphasis on quantity and quality. "The anti-resistant feed policy launched by the country in 2020 promotes the healthy and sustainable development of animal husbandry from farm to table. In addition, in the post-epidemic era, food manufacturing companies and end consumers are paying more and more attention to the nutrition and health of food, and have become stricter on the safety and nutritional traceability of raw materials at the source of planting and breeding, and have also put forward further requirements for the animal husbandry industry."
At this CIIE, Cargill's micro-nutrition and health technology business brought a number of innovative products. Zheng Hongfei gave an example. Among them, Jiapelxing E50 is a star product in the antioxidant series that can support the entire life cycle of animals, especially during challenging production stages. "The results of our in vivo trials across more than 100 animal species (pig, poultry, ruminant and aquatic animals) worldwide show that gaplexin E50 can relieve oxidative stress in animals, regenerate vitamin E, improve animal immunity and improve production performance."
Zheng Hongfei also said that the process of industrial upgrading requires Cargill and industry partners to jointly accelerate solution innovation and modern farm management. "We carry out in-depth research and development and innovation in the fields of precision nutrition (including micronutriation), digital intelligence and carbon emission reduction. We provide differentiated and refined farm management services to customers through professional teams and modern technical support to help customers improve Breeding efficiency."
It is worth noting that in terms of digital intelligence,"Digital Juzhanjia" is a lean management service for pig farm production customized and developed by Cargill for the pig industry in China based on its 20 years of practice in many countries around the world. Zheng Hongfei introduced that since it was launched to the domestic market at the end of 2022, more than three million pigs have been managed online."We have truly helped our breeding customers achieve a leap in PSY in the past year. The best customer demonstration PSY has grown from 33 to 36, reaching the highest PSY standard range in the world."
At this CIIE, Cargill launched another digital intelligence service in Asia,"Digital Win Specialized Jia MAX". Zheng Hongfei introduced that this is also the first digitally intelligent breeding tool on the market that enables real-time on-site deployment of full-chain nutrition management of feed raw material testing, database Cloud Connect Network interpretation, and real-time on-site optimization of recipes.
Zheng Hongfei emphasized that measures such as precise nutrition and digital intelligence can help customers better resist cost pressures under low markets and achieve efficiency gains and cost reductions in the short and medium term and long-term development.
As a global giant in the food and agriculture fields, Cargill has been in China for a long time. In the 1970s, shortly after the release of the Sino-US Joint Communique, Cargill began trading activities in China. By 1987, Cargill began to explore the agricultural product processing industry in China, and was also one of the few foreign-funded companies investing in this industry at that time.
As of now, Cargill has more than 40 factories in the China market, covering major businesses such as agricultural supply chain, food solutions, animal nutrition, metals, beauty care to bio-industry. "As a multinational company operating in China and participating in China for more than 50 years, Cargill continues to invest in the China market and grows together with customers and partners. We will continue to be customer-centered and invest in innovation, talent and sustainable development to help the sustainable development of China's agricultural and food industries and the improvement of new productivity in the industry." Zheng Hongfei said.
