According to the widely circulated images, the relevant statements mainly cited two foreign reports.
A report from the Indonesian news website Kontan, which is an investment news website primarily covering international finance as well as market and economic data. On May 22nd, Kontan published an article titled \BRICS Countries Facing the Threat of Disintegration? India Signals Exit from the Alliance Due to These Factors.\

The article mentions that a significant issue has arisen that could lead to India's exit from BRICS, namely, differing opinions among BRICS nations on \de-dollarization.\ De-dollarization is essentially a measure to reduce dependence on the US dollar. The article states, \India has 'no interest' in joining the BRICS initiative for de-dollarization.\ However, it should be noted that the article does not cite any statements from India or authoritative sources; it merely speculates on \India's exit from BRICS.\
According to a December 2024 report by The Times of India, Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das did indeed publicly state that \de-dollarization\ is not a goal of India as a BRICS nation. He indicated that what the Reserve Bank of India has done so far is to allow the opening of accounts denominated in local currency and to reach trade agreements denominated in local currency with some countries. However, India has not proposed to exit the BRICS as a result.

The other report cited by netizens comes from Sindo News, one of the largest portals in Indonesia, which published an article on its website on May 22 with the title claiming \India is said to exit BRICS.\ However, the original content states, \It is reported... India is already planning to exit BRICS,\ without specifying the source of the news.

Additionally, keyword searches reveal that no mainstream media have reported on this matter, and there have been no official Indian proposals to \exit BRICS.\
In fact, the announcement released by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Indian government on May 23 stated, \India is preparing to take on the role of BRICS chair in 2026 and highly appreciates Brazil's solution-oriented approach in addressing key trade issues.\ At the 15th BRICS Trade Ministers Meeting, the Minister of Commerce and Industry of India, Shri Piyush Goyal, expressed India's gratitude for Brazil's efforts to establish consensus and welcomed Indonesia's accession as a new member of the BRICS in 2025.

In summary, the online rumors lack reliable sources and mainly stem from speculations on Indonesian information websites. Currently, no mainstream media have reported on this claim, and the Indian government has not proposed any related initiatives. The Indian government stated on May 23rd that it is preparing to assume the presidency of BRICS in 2026.
