During the visit, Gong Zheng met with New York City Mayor Adams, attended the "Invest in Shanghai, Share the Future" Overseas Tour Series (New York Station) and delivered a keynote speech, and had in-depth exchanges with leaders in New York's business and financial circles.?
On May 23, the "Invest in Shanghai, Share the Future" overseas tour series (New York Station) was successfully held, with more than 200 political and business people attending. Allen, Chairman of the U.S.-China Business Council, Mr. Olens, Chairman of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, and Huang Ping, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in New York, delivered speeches. Gong Zheng made a keynote introduction, showing Shanghai's development vitality, growth momentum and urban charm in an all-round way, sharing the broad prospects and development opportunities of Shanghai in deepening high-level reform and opening up, promoting high-quality development, and accelerating the construction of an international economic, financial, trade, shipping, and scientific and technological innovation center, fully demonstrating Shanghai's leading and exemplary role in promoting Chinese-style modernization. At the same time, we would like to invite friends from all walks of life at home and abroad to welcome everyone to enter Shanghai and jointly start a new journey of cooperation and create new brilliance. At the meeting, the Management Committee of Lingang New Area made special promotions, and the promotion of the first "Shanghai Summer" international consumption season was officially launched.
During the meeting with Adams, Gong Zheng said that Shanghai and New York are both the largest cities in terms of economic scale and play an important role in Sino-US relations, and the two sides have carried out practical cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, finance, education, and people-to-people relations, and achieved positive results. The two cities also face common issues in urban renewal, low-carbon and environmental protection, and hope to continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, two-way investment, urban governance, and people-to-people exchanges. After the talks, Gong Zheng and Adams signed a letter of intent for friendly cooperation and exchanges between Shanghai and New York, officially opening a new chapter in the cooperation between the two cities.
During his stay in New York, Mayor Gong Zheng had candid, in-depth and fruitful exchanges and dialogues with a number of leaders in the U.S. business and financial circles. Gong Zheng listened to the opinions and suggestions of the person in charge of the enterprise in detail, introduced to the enterprise the latest measures of Shanghai to continue to build a market-oriented, law-based and international first-class business environment, and expressed his hope to have more contacts and exchanges with the industrial and commercial financial circles in New York to expand and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.
Gong Zheng and his entourage also investigated the urban renewal project in New York and the "going out" project of Shanghai enterprises. Huang Ping, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in New York, attended the event.
